Taipei Fine Arts Museum X-Site 2026
In response to the museum plaza, «The Jade: Plaza Calls to Plaza» lifts the ground to create an open, column-free space for people to gather. The wind-resisting cables become interactive sound devices that play hidden museum sounds upon touch. The elevated green tiles use pixelated aerial images from past X-site winners, while mirrors below capture human interaction and the environment. This's not just a piece of art; it creates an environment where visitors and natural elements finish the artwork together.
Architecture and Designer:
Pixelated Memories in Serpentine tile Pattern
Embodying the concept of gently peeling up TFAM’s entrance plaza, the design uses aerial pictures of past X-site editions to reconstruct the classic serpentine tile pattern.
Elevated Perspective and Spatial Tension
An elevated perspective reveals the distinct geometric composition. Tightly drawn steel cables intersect with the tiled surfaces, capturing the rhythm of walking footsteps alongside their mirrored reflections, embodying the rich layers of this artwork
Elevated Structure
The column-free, elevated design conveys a sense of lightness, while its structural lines guide the eye toward TFAM
A Tilted Corner
Built upon a contrasting red base, it resonates with the outdoor art installations of the museum. The upward tilt creates an engaging interactive space where children and visitors can play. This successfully transforms a static artwork into a lively, interactive landscape, bringing the designer's vision to life through people's presence and experience.
Touch-sensitive Interactive Installations
Converting wind-resisting tension cables into touchable interactive devices, releasing everyday ambient sounds gathered from inside the museum upon touch.
Three Layers of Imagery
"Mirror" captures the movement of people and the environment through reflection; "Pavilion" offers shade and a place to rest; "Mountain" creates a fluid, lifted realm for people to wander through
A Space for Children to Play
Not only creates an artwork, but also provides a space for public activities and relaxation
