Passing by this building in Copenhagen, the most surprising moment was actually stepping inside its parking garage. BIG built 80 stepped apartments directly on top of the structure, turning an ordinary parking space into something genuinely impressive.
The high ceilings inside, mixed with bold colors and angled stairways, give the space a strong visual feel. Outside, the perforated aluminum panels let natural light filter through, creating layered light and shadows. Even just taking a quick walk through, the camera easily captures a cool blend of industrial metal and clean geometric lines.

Looking up from the side, the massive mountain pattern on the wall immediately catches your eye. The perforated metal panels cast distinct light and shadows under the sun, paired with the sloped red balconies to create a clean, sharp geometric view.
Looking straight up from below, the vibrant yellow and green soffits form a powerful geometric angle. Using the clear sky as a clean backdrop, the shot turns a massive building into simple colored planes, highlighting BIG's signature use of bold color and lines.
Mountain Profile and Nature
Looking from the small grassy hill nearby, the core idea of BIG’s design becomes crystal clear: the parking garage facade turns into a metal mountain, topped with stepped apartments and rooftop gardens. The modern structure blends seamlessly with the green landscape.

These street-level and framed views clearly show how BIG connects its massive metal "mountain" shape, stacked greenery, and bold geometric lines with daily life, making the building feel both impressive and easy to approach in the city.
A Massive, Ordered, and Colorful Parking Garage
Stepping into the Mountain Dwellings parking garage, placing the housing units on top is a truly unique design concept. The semi-open space lets in plenty of natural light, making it completely different from typical dark parking garages. Large concrete surfaces create strong geometric lines and depth, while boxy corridors paired with highly saturated colors give the whole space bright visual highlights. No matter where you stand, it's easy to capture huge, well-ordered, and colorful compositions through the lens.
